In Image Shooting mode, the user can capture a 360-degree Photo by pressing the shutter release button, just as with a regular camera.
In addition, two Image Shooting modes are available: "Normal Shooting" and "Time Shift". To switch between the two shooting methods, tap Normal Shooting in the upper right corner of the frame where the live view is displayed, and you can switch between [Normal Shooting] and [Time Shift] in the pop-up display at the bottom of the screen.

Normal Shooting
Self-timer shooting can be Settings for normal shooting, in which the camera takes a picture as soon as the shutter release button is pressed. Please click here to learn how to set the self-timer.
-
Time Shift (available on RICOH THETA Z1, X, and V)
Time Shift is a Image Shooting mode in which the two cameras built into the THETA are staggered in time, one at a time, and the main unit composes a 360-degree Photo. By using this time difference to move the photographer to the side of the lens that is not operating, a 360-degree Photo can be taken without the photographer being reflected in the image. Please refer to this page for the settings of the shooting interval.
In Image Shooting Method, the following Image Shooting Conditions can be Settings.
- EV: Allows you to correct the exposure of the Photo to be taken (brightness correction of the entire Photo). Adjust the brightness appropriately while viewing the LIVE preview.
- WB: Allows you to change the color tones of the Photo you are shooting. Watch the LIVE preview and select the one that gives you just the right color tones.
-
Exposure Mode: Exposure is the adjustment of the amount of light delivered to the image sensor. There are three elements that adjust exposure: aperture, shutter speed, and sensitivity. These elements are combined to create the exposure. The available settings for aperture, shutter speed, and sensitivity depend on the camera model and the exposure mode selected.
-
Auto: The aperture, shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, and white balance are automatically adjusted according to the shooting environment. Noise reduction, DR correction, and HDR composition can also be selected in the Option Setting.
-
Option Setting: You can select an option to reduce noise when shooting in dark areas, or to reduce white noise in areas where there is a large difference between brightness and darkness in the picture.
- OFF: No options are available.
- DR Compensation: This option is useful for hand-held shooting in dark and light areas (*available for Z1, V, and SC2, not available for X).
- Noise Reduction: This option is useful when shooting in dark locations with a tripod or other fixed camera.
- HDR: Effective when shooting with a tripod or other fixed camera in dark or light areas.
- Handheld HDR: Effective when shooting hand-held in areas with large differences in brightness (*available for X, Z1, and V; not available for SC2).
-
Option Setting: You can select an option to reduce noise when shooting in dark areas, or to reduce white noise in areas where there is a large difference between brightness and darkness in the picture.
- Tv (Shutter Priority): Settings for shutter speed and white balance.
- Av (Aperture priority): Settings for aperture value and white balance. (*Available for Z1)
- ISO (ISO priority): Settings for ISO sensitivity and white balance.
- M (Manual): Settings for shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, and white balance.

- SC2
- Face: Detects a person's face and places it in the center of the image. Also, it corrects the image so that the person's Face stands out.
- Lens-by-Lens Exposure: Lens-by-Lens Exposure corrects images so that objects in both light and dark areas are clearly visible when capturing scenes with large differences in brightness, such as inside and outside of a car or on a stage.
-
Night View: This mode allows you to take beautiful pictures of Night View. When using this mode, it is recommended to use a tripod or monopod to hold the THETA in place.
- SC2 for Business
- Room: Capture a beautiful overall image by correcting the difference in brightness between the interior and the exterior when capturing images indoors or in a car. When using this mode, it is recommended to use a tripod / monopod to hold the THETA in place.

Available exposure modes and Settings for each model
- Shutter Speed: When the exposure mode is set to Tv or M, you can Save the shutter speed (exposure time). The higher the value, the slower the shutter speed (longer exposure time).
- Aperture*Z1 only : When the exposure mode is set to Av, you can Change the aperture value to F2.1, F3.5, or F5.6.
- ISO: When the exposure mode is set to ISO, the ISO sensitivity can be changed. The lower the number, the lower the sensitivity, the more light is required, but the less noise is produced in the Photo. The higher the value, the higher the sensitivity, the less light is required, but the noisier the Photo will be.
